Deterministic Build Foundations
Isolated Package Compilation

SolarWinds and the XZ Utils backdoor attempt showed how compromise during compilation can spread, and network-connected dependency resolution, persistent toolchains and non-deterministic output make artifact integrity hard to prove. This architecture insight describes isolated package compilation: each package is built in a single-use, network-isolated environment from pre-validated inputs and a read-only toolchain, producing byte-for-byte reproducible output and signed attestations. CleanStart OS builds every package this way, supporting SLSA, NIST SSDF (SP 800-218) and Executive Order 14028.
